BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Amanda Lee Hing is Professor of Piano at Nelson University, where she recently received the 2025 Distinguished Faculty Award, and brings over two decades of distinguished experience as a performer and educator. She had previously served as adjunct faculty at Glenville State University and Washington & Jefferson College. A dedicated pianist, she has performed as a soloist with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, the West Virginia University (WVU) Symphony Orchestra, the West Virginia University Wind Ensemble, the SAGU Concert Band, and the Waxahachie Area Band. She was also the winner of the Piano Texas International Academy and Festival Teachers Concerto Competition, winner of the WVU Young Artist Concerto Competition, and alternate winner of the WVMTA Young Artist Piano Competition. She was named the Southern Regional Education Scholar in 2002.
In addition to serving as Music Director of the Waxahachie Symphony Association, Dr. Lee Hing remains active in professional leadership, including serving as Texas Music Teachers Association (TMTA) Student Affiliate Conference Activities Coordinator and President-Elect of the Frisco Music Teachers Association. She has previously served as TMTA Collegiate Chapters Chair and board member of the Arlington Music Teachers Association. She has presented at Music Teachers National Association Annual Conferences and TMTA State Conventions, and has conducted masterclasses and pedagogy workshops throughout the United States and Asia.
Dr. Lee Hing believes that great musicianship begins with a strong technical foundation and grows through a deep understanding of theory, history, and artistry. With a deep commitment to piano pedagogy, her teaching centers on meeting each student where they are, recognizing that every learner brings unique strengths and musical goals. Whether working with elementary, pre-college, or university-level musicians, she guides each toward the stage with intention and confidence. For Dr. Lee Hing, the studio is a space where technique, creativity, and musical identity are developed together, preparing students not just to perform, but to think, listen, and grow as complete musicians.
She is the founder and director of Aspirio Piano Academy (www.aspiriopiano.com), where she continues to cultivate a love of music in students of all ages and levels.
